Torngait Services Inc. (TSI) is a Labrador based and Newfoundland registered company, and it is the operating arm of a Limited Partnership between the Labrador Inuit Development Corporation (LIDC) and ATCO Frontec Services Limited (ATCO Frontec). TSI was incorporated in 1995 with a primary purpose of providing logistics and support services to the mining and exploration companies pursuing opportunities in the Central Mineral Belt of Labrador. Particular emphasis was focused on the Voisey’s Bay Nickel Project.
The LIDC is solely owned by the Beneficiaries of Nunatsiavut and is the business development arm of the Nunatsiavut Government. The Nunatsiavut Government brings to the team expertise of the land; and knowledge of the regional demographics, the economic and business development requirements, and the interests of the Labrador Inuit.
Effective as of July 01, 2009 ATCO Frontec Corp. and ATCO Structures Inc. were amalgamated to form a new company called ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. is a Canadian leader known for its excellence in the rapid mobilization and provision of services in austere and challenging operational environments worldwide.
ATCO Structures & Logistics focuses on the delivery of services to various clients active in the resource, defence, and telecommunications sectors. The company has proven experience in logistics and transportation, facilities installations, operation and maintenance, contract and project management, systems installation and integration, facilities management, and technology transfer and training.
As a majority Inuit owned company, TSI is committed to the support, growth and development of the Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries. TSI aims to promote and support the economic development of the Labrador Inuit through participation in competitive contracts, work allocation and training programs, and to enhance shareholder value through long term sustained growth and profitability by building on the strengths from the Limited Partners.
TSI’s corporate office, dedicated to operations, project and contract management, business development, and human resources management is strategically located in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Labrador. Accounting functions are done in TSI’s one person office located in St.John’s. Other TSI key partnerships include:
